FROM THE MID-WAY STATION
TO MASO GSTEIER
At the valley station of Merano 2000, hop on South Tyrol's largest ropeway and let it conveniently take you to its mid-way station – an architectural gem that is well worth experiencing: This unique and spectacular "on-demand stop" halfway up the mountain allows passengers to get on or off with the help of a ramp that, once the gondola is stopped, folds down automatically at 45 m above the ground.
From the mid-way station, take trail no. 3 to the Maso Gsteier inn for some delicious South Tyrolean delicacies, all of which are home-made with great passion. From there, continue to the Maso Egger inn and along the mostly level trail to the Maso Greiterhof inn. Then head towards Scena along trail no. 40 ("Taser Höhenweg") all the way the pastures of the Malga Taser inn.
Alternatively, simply follow the signs and hike uphill to the mountain station of the ropeway or back down to the valley station. Both trails are lovely but quite steep.

PICCOLO PICCO IVIGNA
There are several paths that lead to the top of Ivigna, but the feeling once you've reached the peak is always the same: After mastering its exposed south-western flank or completing the via ferrata to the top, a sense of pure freedom takes hold. An absolute must: a stop-over at the Rifugio Kuhleiten inn, the true home of Alpine hospitality.
